Sensorial games: color pairs, shades, sounds and geometric shapes

Actual gugiboard Montessori activity: Sensorial games: color pairs, shades, sounds and geometric shapes

A color, a shape and a sound offer different ways to notice a match. gugiboard separates these into Color pairs, Light to dark, Sound boxes and Geometric cabinet. Choose one kind of comparison rather than moving quickly through every activity.

The materials you will find

Color pairs uses green, pink, blue and yellow tablets. Light to dark offers five shades in order. Sound boxes uses prepared bell, wood and metal recordings. The geometric cabinet includes a circle, square, triangle and oval.

Sharing the activity

Select a color or geometric piece and then its matching place, or drag it toward the place. A mismatched piece is not accepted, leaving it available for another attempt.

Arrange shades from light to dark in the indicated order. In Sound boxes, listen to a material and compare it with a destination’s recording. Use mute when sound is uncomfortable; never turn the volume up to demand a response.

What to notice without a test

Keep the distinction concrete: two matching blue tablets, a darker green beside a lighter green or a curved oval beside a circle. Words can accompany looking rather than replace it.

A touchscreen does not supply texture, temperature or the full acoustic character of a real material. These sensorial pictures and recordings are prompts for observation, not a complete Montessori sensory lesson.

Continue away from the screen

Find two large objects of the same color, or compare a round plate and a rectangular book. Use child-safe items that can be handled under supervision and avoid sharp or breakable materials.

Listen to a gentle everyday sound together, such as tapping a safe wooden surface. Stop if the sound startles your child. Quiet looking and touching are equally valid ways to explore.

Two languages, a calm pace

Green / verde, pink / rosa, blue / azul, yellow / amarillo, circle / círculo and triangle / triángulo connect the activity with everyday objects.

gugiboard’s Montessori area is Montessori-inspired, not an accredited program or a replacement for physical Montessori materials. Its five worlds and 28 activities have no points, rewards, countdowns, automatic advancement, background music or idle characters. Home, mute, undo and redo keep choices with the family. Share brief sessions, leave time for movement, books and real play, and stop when interest fades.
