Gugihands: learning and games controlled with gestures and voice

Gugihands logo, learning with gestures and voice

Gugihands turns the camera and microphone into friendly controls. Children move through lessons and games with simple hand gestures or by saying a word out loud, while Gugi, a talking friend, explains every step.

What Gugihands is

Gugihands is an interactive learning space inside gugiboard. After one tap on “Tap to start”, the child can learn letters, animals, colors, numbers, shapes, body parts, emotions and opposites, then play six games.

Lessons and games are controlled with gestures and voice, so the child does not need to find small buttons. Large touch buttons remain available for adults.

Gestures that move everything

Pointing up, down, left or right moves a yellow glow between choices. A thumbs up selects, like a double click. Bringing both hands together goes back to the menu at any time.

A closed fist asks Gugi to repeat, and the love sign sends a floating heart. The gestures are explained by Gugi at the start, with large picture cards.

Voice commands

Children can say “games” or “home” from anywhere. In the menus they can say a lesson or game name, such as “colors”, “letras”, “balloons” or “carro”.

Voice recognition depends on the browser. Chrome may process speech audio on its servers, so read the privacy note shown before starting.

Why it feels interactive

Each lesson card asks for an action: say the word, open the mouth, smile, raise a hand or show a number of fingers. Gugi praises a correct answer and moves on.

If nobody answers, the card advances gently, so the experience keeps flowing without a dead end.

Getting started

Open Gugihands from gugiboard, place the device at the child’s eye level in good light and tap “Tap to start”. The browser asks once for camera and microphone permission.

Stay nearby for the first sessions and keep them short. Gugihands complements, and does not replace, real play together.
