“Great job!”: celebrating effort, not just results

Every completed game in gugiboard ends with confetti, balloons and a happy “Yay!”. Celebrations feel great—and the way we praise matters.
Why celebrations motivate
A clear, joyful ending tells a child “you did it”. That feeling encourages them to try the next challenge.
Praise the effort
Instead of only “You are so smart”, try “You kept trying until the fire went out!” Praising effort builds persistence.
Be specific
Name what your child did: “You found all the red ones.” Specific praise shows you were paying attention.
Celebrate together
Clap, hug or do a little dance when gugiboard celebrates. Shared joy is more meaningful than any animation.
It is fine to stop
Not every game must be finished. Respect when your child wants to move on—curiosity, not completion, is the goal.
