Pop the balloons: five levels of gesture play in Gugihands

Gugihands logo, learning with gestures and voice

Pop the balloons is the first game in Gugihands and a favourite for building hand-eye coordination. Children pop moving targets simply by pointing at them in the air.

How to play

Balloons rise from the bottom of the screen. The child points a finger and the red dot touches a balloon to pop it, releasing confetti, sparkles or happy faces.

Every few pops earns a star, and five stars complete a level with a celebration.

Five levels

Levels grow slowly in difficulty: calm balloons, faster balloons, mixed sizes, a level of bubbles that burst when touched and a level of falling fruit that slices in half.

Each level is short enough for small attention spans but long enough to practise.

Skills it builds

Tracking a moving object and reaching for it develops visual tracking, timing and fine motor control of the arm and finger.

Saying colours or counting popped balloons together adds language and numbers.

Tips

Stand or sit about an arm’s length away so the whole hand is visible. Bringing both hands together returns to the menu at any time.

Keep sessions short and celebrate effort rather than score.

Try it today

Open gugiboard, choose Gugihands and tap “Tap to start”. Allow the camera and microphone once, then let Gugi explain the gestures before you begin.

Every lesson and game can be reached with pointing, the red finger pointer, a thumbs up or simple voice commands, and bringing both hands together always returns Home.
